Frozen Lime Asia Recommends A Great MICE Destination

Having a hard time deciding where to hold your upcoming company retreat?

Read on for Zhi Hoe’s recent trip and recommendation!

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is well known for its world heritage and cultural sites, Mount Kinabalu and lush, green protected rainforests, flora and fauna. A mere 2.5 hour flight from Singapore, Kota Kinabalu is definitely an accessible location.

Sutera Harbour Resort is a great discovery - a 384-acre integrated resort nestled between the shores of the South China Seas, tropical islands and the majestic Mount Kinabalu. Located 10 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Sutera Harbour is both beautiful and convenient to get to.

When I stepped into the resort, I was awe-struck by two of it’s majestic hotels, Pacific and Megallan, each boasting their own picturesque sights.

As I was led on a tour around the resort, I was on the receiving end of a plethora of facilities! Before I could even take in the 27-hole golf course, I was presented with 5 swimming pools, badminton, squash and tennis courts! I was also introduced to two of their huge ballrooms and the numerous breakout rooms, excellent for retreats and conferences!

After a long day of tours and meetings, I set sail, literally, into the beautiful sunset horizon of Sabah, enjoying drinks and dinner on board one of the North Borneo Yacht Charters! Definitely an unforgettable trip out.

Next morning, I booked myself on a British Vulcan steam locomotive built in England in 1954. It was a magical journey seeing the beautiful landscapes of Sabah unfold and revealed behind the smoke trail of the train. Adding to the magic, this train ride also brought back fond memories of the Harry Potter franchise I grew up with!

After a long day out exploring, I was excited for the delicious seafood feast and nightlife by the waterfront back at Sutera Harbour. Fully satisfied, it was finally time to wind down at the spa facilities provided at the resort.

To active go-getters and nature-lovers, this destination is a great getaway from the busy city life. Maintaining a reasonable pace, Kota Kinabalu allows you to experience all the authentic beauty and diversity that this Malaysian state has to offer. With glorious stretches of unspoiled beaches, 130 million-year-old primary rainforests, wealth of indigenous tribes and wildlife, Borneo is a once in a lifetime, must visit destination.
